Revitalization Update August 27, 2024
We hope you have been enjoying your summer and getting out to play golf often. By all accounts the golf course is in the best shape ever, but our job continues to make it even better. Here is an update on recent accomplishments and plans for the fall.
Accomplishments –
Trap Revitalization on holes #2, 6 & 10. All areas are now in play.
Tee on hole # 4 near pond. Seeded, germinated and cutting to tee length
Area next to holes # 8 & 13 and beyond green on hole # 7. Seeded, watered, growing and cutting to rough length.
Traps on most holes with sand repaired and groomed after washout caused by significant (7.5”) rainfall on evening of August 8th.
Plans for the Fall –
Aerification Schedule
Greens
The course and range will be closed, and greens will be aerified on Sept 3rd (day after Labor Day) and Sept 4th.
Tees, Approaches and Fairways
These will be started on August 26th and completed with maintenance staff managing around course play.
Native Areas
We will continue our rough renovations like we started last year. You will notice some areas turning white or dying while we transition those areas to Rye Grass for a better looking and more consistently playable rough. Most of these areas will be along Fairways or Green Surrounds and will not affect play.
Driving Range Tee
The Driving Range Tee will remain open with its current schedule until Sept 8th. After that all practice will be from the mats up front.
Forward (Silver) Tees
Limbing and Cutting down Dead Trees
Work will continue this fall and winter
Clearing Undergrowth
Additional areas will be cleared as maintenance staff becomes available pending work on other projects.
